Psalm 105:1 says, "Give thanks to the Lord and call on His name. Make it known amongst all the nations what He has done!" Sometimes, though, it's not as simple as sending a native speaker to a lost region. There are at least 200 million people in the world who do not have the Bible in their own language. Wycliffe's vision is to ensure the Bible is made accessible to all people in a language they understand. To help make this vision a reality, Wycliffe focuses on literacy development, community development, translation endeavors, publishing ventures and church partnerships in many countries.
Wycliffe USA, like other Wycliffe organizations around the world, is committed to providing access to the Scriptures to everyone in the language they know. Biblical translation is a significant part of that work, but not the only part. We currently support Wycliffe Bible Society missionaries Becky and Lyle Reffey in Papua New Guinea and will continue to pray for the success of their hard work and commitment to Christ's Great Commission!
