“Go ye therefore…”  With three simple words Jesus introduced his disciples to a mission that has propelled the Gospel across the world for 2,000 years. It’s a mission we still hold dear today. The following is an overview of some of the other endeavors we support in the U.S. and abroad through prayer, special projects, missions trips or yearly special offerings:
Each year, our congregation joins volunteers across the
nation to support Operation Christmas Child, an international outreach ministry developed and managed by an organization called Samaritan’s Purse. Churches and individuals pack and send shoe boxes by the hundreds and thousands — each one filled with school supplies, clothing, hygiene items, toys, books, and other essentials. These boxes travel around the world to children in need, bringing with them the gospel message courtesy of international missionaries.  One of our in-house ministries, Hearts of Love, leads the charge on this important Great Commission project. Located in Southeast Kentucky, Big Creek Missions serves three of the most impoverished counties in the US. Founder and director Kevin Rogers has been a domestic missionary for more than a decade, reaching the people and families of Appalachia through community, construction and children’s outreach ministries. BCM hosts 200 volunteers each week in the summer (among them our teens, who travel to KY for their annual missions trip) and a variety of church groups and organizations in fall and spring. Kevin’s goal is not just to minister to the people of KY, but to train and equip groups to return to their own towns and engage in missions work there.
